Competitions turn a well-trained dog into money and medals. This guide covers the three events, what a dog needs to enter, how the score is worked out, and which breeds suit which event.
The three competitions
| Competition | Kennel level | Entry fee | Entries per dog per day | Prizes (1st / 2nd / 3rd) | What counts most |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Local Agility Cup | 1 | $50 | 3 | $300 / $150 / $75 | Agility |
| Obedience Trial | 2 | $75 | 2 | $400 / $200 / $100 | Obedience |
| Regional Championship | 3 | $150 | 1 | $800 / $400 / $200 | All five stats, including Charm |
Charm counts only in the Regional Championship.
- Local Agility Cup: Agility 65%, Intelligence 15%, Obedience 10%, Orientation 10%.
- Obedience Trial: Obedience 65%, Intelligence 15%, Agility 10%, Orientation 10%.
- Regional Championship: Agility 25%, Obedience 25%, Intelligence 20%, Orientation 15%, Charm 15%.
Entering
The dog must be an adult or a senior with at least 30 energy. It can’t be training or already registered for another event. Daily entries are counted when you register, and cancelling doesn’t give the entry back.
After you pay the fee, the dog travels to the event: 30 minutes for the Cup and the Trial, 8 hours for the Championship.
How the score is worked out
Each competition weighs the five stats differently, and the dog’s weighted stats make up its base score. Energy matters a lot: the base score is multiplied by the dog’s energy as a share of 100, plus 0.2. A small random swing of up to 5 points is added, and a Well-Trained dog gets 10% more.
The dog competes against five rivals who get stronger in higher-level events. Beating all five wins 1st place, beating three wins 2nd, and beating one wins 3rd.
Advice: enter with a dog close to full energy — at 50 energy it scores roughly 40% less than at 100.
Rewards
- 1st, 2nd and 3rd place win the prize money in the table above.
- They also win 3, 2 or 1 medals.
- A random stat goes up by 3, 2 or 1 points — and this can push it up to 10% past the dog’s normal ceiling.
Placing outside the top three still gives the dog a little experience.
Results also stay on the dog’s record and raise its sale price: $100 for each 1st place, $60 for each 2nd and $30 for each 3rd, with every repeat of the same place worth a third less than the last. That bonus isn’t reduced by low health or traits.
Advice: the Cup allows three entries per dog per day, so it is the easiest place to build a record early on.
Best breeds for each competition
The table below compares every breed’s stat ranges against each competition’s weights. A breed’s own dogs still differ, so treat it as a starting point.
| Competition | Best suited |
|---|---|
| Local Agility Cup | American Bulldog, Belgian Malinois, Jack Russell Terrier, Siberian Husky |
| Obedience Trial | Belgian Malinois, Cocker Spaniel, German Shepherd Dog, Labrador Retriever, Pembroke Welsh Corgi, Poodle |
